12 Ways To Stop Your Wife Falling Apart When She’s Overwhelmed

Many women are prone to suffering from stress or anxiety because of loads of concerns or responsibilities. They selflessly serve day after day for their family, wiping their children’s tears away, tending to everyone’s needs but their own. For the husbands, it can sometimes be difficult to understand how to alleviate the issue. These 12 tips are from women all over the world who want husbands to know how to help them when they become overwhelmed.

1. Be aware of her responsibilities

In spite of whether she goes to work or stays at home, are you aware of what she does all day along? If not, try to ask her. Her to-do-list is overflowing with tasks that far outweigh her time and vigor. Be appreciative of all her sacrifices.

2. Get involved BEFORE she burns out

The best time to help your wife is now. Don’t wait until she breaks down.

3. Be an active participant

It takes two to keep a marriage running smoothly. Same applies for a family. Be actively involved in your family life.

4. Stop trying to fix her problems

Most men solve a problem by trying to fix it, which can make it difficult for a woman to feel safe. Instead of offering a solution, try your best to listen and allow her to vent without trying to tell her what she should do about the problem.

5. Hold her in your arms

She may just need to be held in your arms when she feels like her world is falling apart. Hold her and tell her how much you love her, which will allow her to safer and more comfortable.

6. Let her talk as long as she needs

Women are prone to expressing themselves with their words, so it’s important to allow her to talk as much as she needs to. Show empathy and listen carefully.

7. Be a partner

Marriage means to share a life together and carry one another’s burdens. Marriage makes you a union who covenant to love each other as one another’s confidant, lover, and friend.

8. Provide her hope

Encouraging her can change her perspective on her struggles, allowing herself to feel better. She will understand her value if you tell her how much you appreciate what she does to manage the home.

9. Be useful

Learn to find the time you need to get things done. What is broken that needs to be fixed? Are there dishes that need washing? Does the dog need to be walked? Don’t wait until you are asked. Do it right now.

10. Give her a day all to herself

Encourage her to take a day or two off from household responsibilities. Getting a manicure, hair cut, or massage can help her gather her feelings and take a step back from the meddling situation.

11. Pray for her

Pray with her when she is having a problem to ensure that she is comforted by your concerns. Try to encourage her to let go of her stress and understand that any external circumstances are out of her control.

12. Ask her what you can do

Ask her what you can do to help her. She will appreciate it more than you ever know.

How to Put an End to PMS Forever

You’ve seen that cranky, crazy, above-all-else hungry female character represented in TV shows and movies for decades.

But What the Heck Is PMS Anyway?

PMS doesn’t necessarily happen right before your period even though it stands for pre-menstrual syndrome. The symptoms can hit anytime between menstruation and ovulation, during your luteal phase, the second part of your monthly cycle. During this time, you and many women may experience everything from ravenous hunger and bloating to anxiety and acne.

But, PMS is not normal. It doesn’t mean, in no way that you are not normal for having it. It means you’re undergoing a hormonal imbalance that’s triggering this monthly flood of symptoms, same as many other women around you. Usually, this imbalance is caused by low progesterone, too much estrogen, and key micronutrient deficiencies, and it causes your brain and body to go on a completely unpleasant rollercoaster ride every month.

What Do I Do About It?

Forget the potions and pills. They are not effective enough to fight what is going on in your system when your diet has left your hormones off-balance. Another proof that there is no magic bullet is that many women who take birth control pills even though they are on the synthetic hormones that suppose to cure-all still struggle with PMS.

Simply by adjusting your diet you can take control of your PMS symptoms. Changing up some of what you drink and eat during this time will help your hormones to rebalance and make the monthly transition easy, smooth, and maybe even symptomless. The most important thing you must know is that eating these things not only helps relieve symptoms in the short term but over time, these foods can put a permanent end to your PMS.

I repeat: If you eat to balance your hormones you do not ever have to have PMS.

If PMS is making you unhappy or uncomfortable, try for the next three months to add these five hormone-healthy foods and see how much better you feel:

Sweet Potatoes

Get a healthy dose of vitamin A and say goodbye to sugar cravings. Vitamin A is a very important nutrient that helps your liver to break down the excess estrogen, keeps blood sugar stable, and balances your mood.

Leafy Greens

Kale and all of its cousins from the brassica family contain indole-3 carbinol which is a powerful hormone balancer. This compound promotes metabolism of estrogen, which will help prevent estrogen dominance and eliminate excess estrogen.

Coconut Yogurt

Try a probiotic-rich coconut alternative of ice cream aisle that’s full of healthy fats and live cultures— it will help you combat cravings and stabilize your mood.

Bone Broth

Bone broth is filled with magnesium and calcium which are two electrolytes that help prevent the migraines and headaches that many times go with PMS, and since cold-pressed juice, this is the hottest food trend.

Chickpeas

These versatile, delicious beans are high in vitamin B6.  It is a vitamin that is a very important player in progesterone production. Not only will low progesterone induce period and stress problems, but low B6 can make the estrogen dominance worse. Regular eating of chickpeas can help you to treat those problems.

Remember: Once you receive all the right information about how your body really works, you can start making healthy choices that finally start to work for you. The science of your body is on your side! You can do this!

7 Best Natural Antifungal Remedies – Safe And Effective For Any Kind Of Fungal Infection

Fungal infections can be very frustrating and cause a great discomfort or even embarrassment (like in the case of stinky feet). The most common types of fungal infections are candida or yeast infections, toenail or fingernail fungus, athlete’s foot, jock itch, ringworm, oral thrush, and meningitis. Luckily, besides the prescription or over the counter antifungal medications, there are numerous natural antifungal remedies.

According to many studies, natural antifungal remedies can be more effective in the treatment of fungal infections, than the prescription or over the counter antifungal medications.

Actually, a chemical compound called azole is the most frequently used for antifungal cream and can cause sensitivities, allergic reactions and produce risks to anyone who is pregnant.

The good news is that studies show that the antimicrobial properties of natural antifungal remedies such as plant products, essential oils, and other naturally based solutions are much safer and effective antifungal agents.

In a study published in The Iranian Journal of Nursing and Midwifery Research in December 2010, they compared a standard antifungal cream that had clotrimazole to a cream that contained garlic and thyme.

Their conclusion was that “The vaginal cream containing garlic and thyme is effective as much as clotrimazole vaginal cream for the treatment of candida vaginitis.”

  • Crush two garlic cloves and make a paste by adding a few drops of olive oil. Apply the paste on the affected area and leave it on for about 30 minutes. Then wash it off with lukewarm water. Repeat this treatment twice a day until you get rid of the infection.

Coconut oil is highly beneficial in the case of fungus due to its immune-enhancing and health-supporting properties.

Fungal growth in the body is usually caused by general weakness of the immune system, stress or excessive sugar intake. Coconut oil fungus-killing action is due to its content of medium-chain fatty acids. They have potent antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties. Both topical application and oral consumption can benefit.

    • Apply extra-virgin coconut oil by gently rubbing on the affected area and leave it to dry on its own. Repeat 2-3 times a day until you get rid of the infection.
    • Mix equal amounts of cinnamon oil and coconut oil and apply it on the affected area. Use this remedy twice a day to control the growth of the infection.

Every time when you’re locking lips, your mouth increases its saliva production. So, what are the kissing benefits here? This helps remove cavity-causing particles and cleans the mouth. Exchange of bacteria is actually beneficial because when we kiss saliva secretes natural antibiotics that kill bacteria and improves our immunity.

Puffy Eyes – Natural Remedies to Get Rid of Them

Bags under eyes, dark circles under eyes and puffy eyes are more common as you age. This usually is not cause for any alarm or a problem that requires medical attention.

But the last thing that you want is puffy eyes. They make you look and feel older.

Usually, they appear with aging. Because the tissues and muscles around your eyes weaken, the fat that supports the eyes moves into the lower eyelids. Also, a fluid may accumulate below your eyes and create a swollen appearance. There some other things that can aggravate the condition such as genetics, eczema, sinus problems, water retention, excessive crying, sleeping face down, seasonal allergies, lack of sleep and hangovers.

How to get rid of bags under eyes?

Fortunately, you can get rid of those bags under the eyes by taking certain dietary steps and changing your lifestyle and certain habits.

        1. Reduce allergy symptoms.

Take care of your allergies and avoid allergens when possible. Try some natural remedies or essential oils. During the allergy season allergies flame up, and puffy eyes are inevitable for many. Try to catch and manage them before they start with some essential oils for allergies, or other natural remedies.

       2. Exercise

Exercise is a natural way to promote a youthful glow to the skin and reduce the signs of aging. There are some facial exercises and yoga is very beneficial too.

       3. Take It Easy On the Salt

Salt, as well as all the sodium, is linked with high blood pressure and it causes fluid retention that leads to puffiness around the eyes. Use just a little bit of salt and the best one for use is pure Himalayan salt. Instead of high salty foods, opt for fresh vegetables.

       4. Remove Your Makeup Before Going to Bed

Makeup can irritate your eyes, especially if you leave it overnight. Make sure to gently remove it before going to bed.

      5. Use Neti Pot

Neti pot can help you clean your sinuses and flush out all the extra moisture from colds, infections or seasonal allergies.

       6. Sleep Position

Sleep on your back to prevent fluid build-up around the eyes. Also, add an extra pillow under your head.

       7. Take It Easy On Alcohol

Alcohol dehydrates your skin and your whole body. This causes the delicate area around your eyes to appear dark. Instead, drink lots of water. You will glow and feel fresher.

       8. Quit Smoking

Smoking cigarettes weakens and dries out the skin on your face as well as your whole body. It also causes irritation and premature aging around the eyes.

     6. Egg Whites

Egg whites tighten your skin, help prevent wrinkles and banish under-eye bags.

  • Take 1 egg white

Neti Pot Health Benefits Including Sinusitis & Allergies

The Neti pots can be traced back and have been used for thousands of years in India. There it was used in Hatha yoga as a cleansing technique. In yoga science, the neti pot is used to help balance the sixth chakra which lies between eyebrows. It is believed that clear breathing can lead to clear thinking. Nowadays, people use it for sinus relief but neti pot health benefits can be numerous.

What are the neti pot health benefits?

Nasal and sinus cavities are covered by very small hair-like structures also known as cilia. These structures move back and forth to push mucus out of the cavities. The neti pot works more forcefully than blowing your nose. A saline solution thins the mucus and helps improve the coordination and speed of the cilia. This way it more effectively flushes bacteria, allergens, and infection-causing mucus out of the sinuses.

Neti pot health benefits are numerous. It is especially helpful for people with frequent colds, chronic respiratory congestion, and sinus headaches or pressure.

Nasal irrigation with neti pot supports overall respiratory health since it:

  • Provides relief for nasal dryness
  • Supports a healthy upper respiratory system
  • Removes excess mucous
  • Flushes away pollen, dust, and other irritants
  • Maintains a healthy nasal and sinus lining
  • Keeps your head refreshed and clear
Sinusitis

Acute or chronic sinusitis is characterized by a nasal congestion, runny nose, fever, cough and sometimes nausea. It can be caused by bacteria, viruses, allergens or an autoimmune reaction. Neti pots can help reduce the symptoms of sinusitis, the medication costs, and amount of medications people use.

Allergic rhinitis

Irrigation flushes away mucus, pollen, dust and other irritants out of the nasal cavity and improves the airflow through the nose. Studies show that nasal irrigation reduces the causes of allergic inflammation.

Viral infections of upper respiratory tract

Just by using a neti pot you can relieve the symptoms of colds, flu, and other respiratory infections. It also can prevent from getting an infection and shorten the symptom duration.

Postoperative care

Ear, nose, and throat surgeons recommend nasal irrigation. It keeps the nasal cavity clean, helps moisturize the mucous membranes, and promotes healing. It also can reduce the use of antibiotics.

A traditional neti pot looks like a genie’s lamp or like a small teapot. It’s filled with a mild solution of salt water, which is then poured through the nostrils. This helps to remove encrusted material and moisten the nasal mucous membranes.

How To Use the Neti Pot?

Neti Pot

To use the Neti pot mix about 16 ounces of lukewarm water (previously boiled, distilled, or sterile) with 1 teaspoon of salt.

Once the Neti pot is ready to use, tilt your head at about a 45-degree angle over the sink. Put the spout into your top nostril, and gently pour the solution into the nostril.

The solution will pass through your nasal cavity and out of the other nostril. If it runs into your throat just spit it out. After you finish with the procedure with the first nostril, blow your nose to get rid of any remaining liquid. Repeat the procedure on the other side.

It is important to

  • Use only previously boiled, distilled, or sterile water
  • Rinse and to let the neti pot dry after each use
  • Throw it away if you notice any cracks on it
  • Don’t share your neti pot with anyone

2. Synthroid (levothyroxine)

This drug is a synthetic version of the T4 thyroid hormone. If you take it, you have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism or an underactive thyroid.

This condition can be improved with two supplements – fish oil and vitamin D3. Take 2 grams of fish oil and 2,000 IUs of vitamin D3 daily.

3. Delasone, Sterapred (prednisone)

This corticosteroid is a powerful anti-inflammatory. It treats the symptoms of asthma, colitis, arthritis, and many other autoimmune conditions. The most important is that it rarely addresses the root causes of illnesses.

This overuse has led to the increase of deadly antibiotic-resistant superbugs. Many of them are now almost untreatable.
Antibiotics also kill the “good” bacteria in your gut making you more vulnerable to other infections.

  • Probiotic tablets or capsules, containing beneficial bacteria, can restore intestinal bacteria destroyed by antibiotics. Actually, according to an article in the Journal of the American Medical Association, they might protect against many infections. • Antioxidant flavonoids such as quercetin and Pycnogenol are very beneficial. Also, they are natural antihistamines, but they won’t make you groggy. Quercetin has the ability to inhibit the activity of cells that release histamine, which causes allergic symptoms.
  • The herb feverfew is rich in flavonoids, that might also relieve allergies.
  • Bee pollen can also be a remedy for allergies. To avoid a negative reaction it is recommended to consume one granule of pollen daily and slowly up the dose.
11. Omeprazole (Prilosec)

The number of prescriptions written for Prilosec makes it the third most popular drug.

Heartburn occurs when excess stomach acid backs up into the esophagus, but its real cause can be a food sensitivity or allergy. When people take antacids they block the protective hydrochloric acid in their stomach, which can lead to mineral deficiencies by hindering their absorption and bacterial overgrowth in the small intestines.

  • You can eliminate heartburn by eating fewer “fast” or processed microwavable foods, with a lot of suspect additives, and taking the time to enjoy your meal and de-stress.
  • Also, take small doses of “buffered” vitamin C, which will temporarily lower your stomach acidity.
  • Several studies have shown that rich in antioxidants licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) can relieve heartburn.
  • Simple lifestyle changes, such as eating slowly, clearing of your trigger foods, and managing stress can make a big difference.

The experts say that it produces deep and peaceful sleep among those who consume it every day. For the best results, it is recommended is to consume it 30 to 60 minutes before bedtime.

A study by the University Of Maryland Medical Center reported that 81 percent of people, involved in one study, who were experiencing minor sleep problems, and who took a concoction of lemon balm and valerian reported much better sleeping than those who took a placebo.

Relieves stress, anxiety, and depression

As mentioned before, lemon balm has been used for centuries for relief of anxiety and stress. Studies focused on lemon balm and stress note impressive results.

To reap the anxiety and stress reducing benefits of this amazing plant, simply take some fresh leaves, finely chop them and then put them in boiling water. After 10-15 minutes, strain the liquid, leave it to cool a bit, and then slowly sip.

Another option is to use this plant is by rubbing its leaves on your skin. The oil will seep into the bloodstream, causing a relaxing effect.

Increases concentration and creativity

The natural compounds in the leaves can boost energy and alertness. Therefore, lemon balm can be especially beneficial when one needs to concentrate on a work project or big exam.

An Australian study from 2014 discovered that participants who took M. Officinalis preparation in palatable forms in a beverage and in yogurt experienced improvements in mood and/or cognitive performance.

Strengthens memory and problem-solving abilities

Research has also noted improved memory and problem-solving abilities in those who consume lemon balm. Researcher Dr. David Kennedy from the University of Northumbria, Newcastle, found that healthy, young adults who took capsules with dried leaves of Melisa Officinalis plant had a significantly better performance at mathematical processing compared to those who took a placebo.

The researchers also noted that lemon balm had a positive effect on chemical receptors in the brain and pieces of brain tissue affected by Alzheimer’s.

Dr. Elaine Perry from the Medical Research Council’s unit at Newcastle General Hospital said that lemon balm extract as sedative works. But only the dried leaf enhances memory. The more you take, the more it works. She also said that they believe that it could be a helpful adjunct to conventional treatment for Alzheimer’s disease.

Balances blood sugar levels

Lemon balm due to its high content of antioxidants helps balance blood sugar levels. It is loaded with rosmarinic acid and eugenol, which support a healthy brain.

The Free University of Berlin, Germany in a study found that lemon balm reduces insulin resistance and promotes stable blood sugar. (6)

Heals cold sores

Due to its antiviral properties, lemon balm can even be used to heal cold sores. It also reduces symptoms of stress related herpes outbreak.

Phyllis Balch, the certified nutritional consultant, in her book Prescription for Herbal Healing, notes that lemon balm reduces bu half the time needed to heal cold sores.

To get all the lemon balm benefits, make a lemon balm tea using the dried leaves. It has both lemony and minty flavor. Allow it to steep for 10 to 15 minutes for maximum results before drinking.

Drink a cup and apply it directly to a cold sore using a cotton ball, or both, several times each day.

Relieves and relaxes sore muscles

Lemon balm is also very effective for aches that accompany illness like the flu and for relieving muscle pain due to its antispasmodic action. It also helps to relax the body and decrease muscular spasms.

Improves digestive health

Whether you suffer from bloating or gas, indigestion, lemon balm is very helpful as its essential oils help soothe the gastrointestinal tract.

For heartburn, mix it with some dried peppermint leaves for the best results.

Improves skin health

Lemon balm benefits for skin conditions are long known. Thanks to its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, it can also help to heal, calm, and soothe the skin. It may also be especially effective for acne as well as for sunburn. Two of its compounds, ferulic acid, and caffeic acid, provide protection against UV radiation-induced skin damage.

Repels mosquitoes

Lemon balm works as a natural bug repellent and is a great alternative to chemical-filled, toxic sprays. So, grow your own lemon balm plants and you will have an endless supply of bug repellent.

The herb is loaded with a compound called citronellal. It gives the lemony flavor and aroma which insects find so unpleasant. Just rub the leaves of the plant on your skin and you’ll keep mosquitoes away. Apply it on your arms, around the ankles, and other areas most vulnerable and exposed to bug bites. Combine it with olive oil and it will be easier to spread.

The most important is that it is completely safe for your kids too.

Help the bees!

As we mentioned before bees love this plant. So, by organically growing it in your garden you’ll help restore the bee population.

Bees are responsible for pollinating 80 percent of the plants on our planet and they are the world’s most valuable pollinators.  That means one out of every four bites of food we eat is due to the hard work of bees. Without them and without their hard work our life as we know it, will be severely altered and food supply dramatically decreased.

With the introduction of genetically modified crops and powerful pesticides, bee colonies are quickly disappearing.

That’s just another great reason to do your part and grow lemon balm.

Carmelite water

Carmelite water is one of the most famous concoctions made of lemon balm. Its recipe was created by Carmelite nuns 16th century.

The recipe was and still is kept secret since it’s creation and is passed down from a generation to generation amongst the nuns.

How To Increase Metabolism Naturally

A strong metabolism is connected to more than a thin body! It’s beneficial for fertility, immune function, lean muscle mass, lower rates of degenerative and infectious diseases, brain functionality, longevity, having more energy and vigor, and much more. Actually, one of the biggest benefiters of a fast metabolism is your brain because of its extremely high demands for energy. For example to keep the brain working you need about 16 times more energy than to support skeletal muscles! Metabolism naturally and constantly slows after age 40. This means that you need to start to increase metabolism in order to maintain your health and keep yourself feeling young.

Do You Need to Increase Metabolism?

First, you must know that metabolism is determined by several factors, including your gender, genetic makeup, age, hormonal health, body composition (percent of muscle mass and fat), and level of activity. While you can control some of these factors (like activity level and muscle mass), other factors are out of your control (age and genetics).

Your metabolic rate has a big effect of on your energy levels, mood, and appearance because it determines how well you can “burn” calories.

How do you know if you need to increase metabolism? Here is a list of common signs of less-than-ideal metabolic functioning:

  • frequently feeling cold, cold body temperature
  • ongoing fatigue
  • dry skin
  • thinning hair on your head
  • brittle and slow-growing fingernails
  • low libido and poor sexual health
  • irregular periods
  • trouble sleeping through the night
  • bloating after eating
  • constipation and slow-moving bowels
  • mood disorders like depression and anxiety
  • frequently urinating
  • struggling to lose weight
  • trouble concentrating
  • excessive thirst and dry mouth
  • hypersensitivities and allergies
  • low energy levels
  • getting sick more often
  • low motivation for physical activity

Luckily, you can increase metabolism and push the body into using calories more efficiently. This way you’ll slow down signs of aging and protect the body from disease.

Get Enough Sleep

When the body is fatigued it slows down the metabolism in order to save energy. Lack of sleep is associated with high cortisol levels which are connected with weight gain, poor mental functioning, and becoming resistant to insulin. So make it a priority to get, at least, seven hours of sleep every night.

If you repeatedly overtrain it causes muscle loss, fatigue, and lower metabolic rate. Therefore it is important to rest between exercise days in order to maintain hormonal balance.

Eat Your Breakfast and Add Metabolism Boosting Foods To Your Diet

If you skip breakfast, your body goes into starvation mode and your metabolism slows down to save energy. Try to mix complex carbohydrates with lean protein and healthy fats. This way you’ll feel full longer. Also add metabolism boosting foods to your diet such as garlic, cayenne pepper, chili, cinnamon, ginger, green tea, and apple cider vinegar.

Avoid Unhealthy Foods

Certain foods increase free radical damage and slow down digestive processes. The body recognizes processed foods as toxins and slows down metabolic functioning.

Avoid the following foods as much as possible:

  • processed foods
  • sugary drinks
  • refined vegetable oils
  • artificial ingredients and sweeteners
  • low-quality animal and dairy products

Give Your Body the Calories It Needs. Stop Dieting!

Everyone who has ever been on a diet probably noticed becoming tired, moody, and possibly even sick more frequently. These are signs that metabolism is becoming more sluggish. If your food intake is too low and your exercise level is too high then your body gets the message to slow down the metabolism to save energy.

On the other hand, being deprived can increase preoccupation and cravings for “forbidden” foods.

So stop counting calories and focus on nutrient density.

Eating enough every day is critical for hormonal, cognitive, and sexual health. It is especially important to consume calories from various unprocessed whole foods. People who avoid yo-yo dieting and eat well often experience more motivation, better mental health, better digestion, positive moods and stronger desire to be active, stronger sex drive, and more stable blood sugar levels. By eating enough you’ll have more motivation to be active, gain muscle mass and strength quicker, and feel less fatigued.

Start Lifting Weights

Lifting weights can speed up your metabolism because it builds lean muscle mass for which naturally your body uses more calories.

High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

HIIT workouts have more profound benefits and require less time than traditional cardio workouts. Intense exercises such as cycling, sprinting, or plyometrics and burst training have “afterburn effect”. This means that they help the body continue to burn calories even after the workout is over. These workouts are also effective for helping with insulin sensitivity, improving cardiovascular function, lowering cortisol, improving respiratory stamina and endurance.

Luckily there’s good news! You can easily and naturally reverse type 2 diabetes and improve type 1 diabetes.

The latest statistics from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reveal that diabetes has grown to “epidemic” proportions. The American Diabetes Association  reports that:

  • Diabetes is the 7th leading cause of death
  • 23.6 million Americans have diabetes
  • 57 million Americans are pre-diabetic
  • 1.6 new cases of diabetes are reported each year
  • Almost 1 in 4 of people over age 60 have diabetes
  • Diabetes is the leading cause of kidney failure, blindness, and nervous system disorders
  • Diabetes increases heart attack risk
  • 75% of adults with diabetes will develop high blood pressure
  • Diabetes totally costs $245 billion annually
Foods You Must Remove to Reverse Type 2 Diabetes Naturally
Refined sugar

It rapidly spikes blood glucose and fruit juice, soda, and other sugary beverages are the worst. They can cause extreme elevations in blood glucose because these forms of sugar rapidly enter the blood stream. If you are looking for best natural sweetener then stevia is the best option. Marple syrup and honey can also affect blood sugar.

Conventional cow’s milk

People who suffer from type 1 diabetes should especially eliminate the conventional cow’s milk. It is because casein from conventional cows triggers an immune response similar to gluten and harms the body. If you buy diary, only purchase organic and raw from pasture raised goats or sheep.

Grains

They are loaded with carbohydrates, especially grains like wheat, which are broken down into sugar within a few minutes of consumption. It is well known that gluten can cause intestinal inflammation which affects hormones like leptin and cortisol, and can lead to spikes in blood sugar.

Alcohol

It can increase blood sugar to dangerous levels and lead to liver toxicity. Sweet liquors and beer are high in carbohydrates and should be avoided.

GMO

GMO soy, canola, and corn have been linked to liver and kidney disease and may promote diabetes. Remove all GMO foods from your diet. Also, remove all packaged foods, hydrogenated oils including soybean oil, vegetable oil, canola oil, and cottonseed oil.

Top Foods to Treat Diabetes

If you want to reverse type 2 diabetes or prevent diabetes add the following foods into your diet.

  • Foods high in chromium

Broccoli, green beans, grass-fed beef and raw cheese, are all high in chromium. They can naturally balance out blood glucose levels and improve glucose tolerance factor (GTF) in your body.

  • High fiber foods

They help slow down the absorption of glucose. Take at least 30g of fiber per day from avocados, vegetables, berries, seeds, and nuts.

  • MCFA

They are found in red palm and coconut oil and can help balance blood sugar levels.

  • Low glycemic foods

Foods with a low glycemic load tend to not spike blood sugar as much as high glycemic foods. They include vegetables, seeds, avocados, nuts, coconut, eggs, organic meat, raw pastured dairy and wild caught fish.
Wild-caught fish also reduce inflammation due to the high content of omega-3 fats. This can reduce some of the negative effects of elevated blood glucose.

  • Herbs

Herbs like cinnamon, parsley, and turmeric, may also help balance blood sugar levels.

Easy Steps to Reverse Type 2 Diabetes

  1. Get Insulin Problems Under Control

    – Regaining proper insulin sensitivity can help reverse type 2 diabetes because diabetes is triggered by insulin resistance. Eat more healthy fats, proteins, and green vegetables instead of processed carbohydrates, sugars, and grains.

  2. Get Your Fats in Good Balance

    – Excess Omega-6 fats in the diet contributes diabetes. Balance your intake of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fats and get them to a 1:1 ratio.

  3. Fix your Gut

    – Toxins and grains facilitate leaky gut syndrome. Antibiotic use, poor diet or being bottle fed as a baby can reduce the number of beneficial bacteria in the gut. Avoid toxins as much as you can and remove the grains. Try to take high-quality probiotics in to have healthy intestines.

  4. Exercise

    – it increases the ability of muscles to use insulin and therefore it can over time fix insulin resistance. A better effect on insulin levels have smaller amounts of high-intensity exercise.

  5. Lose Excess Weight

    – Diabetes and Obesity often go hand in hand. Losing weight lowers your risk of getting diabetes and helps to mitigate it. So it’s not surprising that it can also reverse diabetes.

  6. Reduce Stress

    – Stress raises cortisol, increases the risk for certain types of disease and can lead to insulin issues and hormone imbalance. Try to reduce your emotional and mental and get quality sleep every night.

  7. Take Supplements

    – They can be very helpful to heal your body from diabetes. Supplements that help with diabetes symptoms are

  • Chromium Picolinate – 600 mcg daily

Naturally Enhance Fertility: Improve Your Chances For Conceiving Without Expensive Medications

Infertility is on the rise. According to a study published in the journal Fertility and Sterility in 2013, almost 1 in 6 couples in U.S. didn’t conceive a child within a year of trying. Just one year earlier that number was 1 in 10 couples that couldn’t get pregnant. While most of us immediately think of expensive fertility treatment you can also naturally enhance fertility by choosing certain drinks and foods.

Whether you just want to get pregnant or you’re having trouble conceiving here are some simple steps you can take to naturally enhance fertility.

Expensive medical procedures aren’t the only way. There are effective drug-free, lifestyle-and-nutrition-based strategies that can significantly increase a chance of conceiving.

One of the key factors in male reproductive health is maintaining a healthy weight. Obesity is associated with decreased sperm production, decreased testosterone and sperm production.

As for women, understanding their periods by following the symptoms, frequency, and color can reveal a lot about the current state of hormones.

Here are some of the other top nutrition and lifestyle strategies to naturally enhance fertility:

1. Eat organic

Conventional food supply can contain endocrine-disrupting chemicals. So every time when possible eat organic food, especially fruits and vegetables.

2. Eat avocados

Avocados are a great choice for overall well-being and hormone balance for both men and women because of their high content of healthy fat. Some records show that eating avocado while undergoing IVF may triple a chance of becoming pregnant. Therefore it is highly recommended for women who are trying to conceive to eat avocados 2-3 times a week.

3. Avoid gluten

Women with celiac disease and gluten intolerance are more likely to experience nutritional deficiencies, chronic inflammation, imbalanced vaginal flora and gut dysbiosis. These all may impede getting pregnant. According to studies, women undergoing a fertility treatment, when gave up gluten, improved their chances of conceiving.

4. Get rid of caffeine

A cup of coffee in the morning may disturb your ability to balance blood sugar for 24 hours. On the other hand, three cups of caffeine daily can significantly impair fertility.

5. Balance blood sugar

Women who eat a high-glycemic-load diet are more likely to experience ovulatory infertility than women who are on low-glycemic-load diets. Foods with high-quality and complex carbohydrates help keep blood sugar in check. So if you want to naturally enhance fertility eat a diet rich in leafy green vegetables, beans, peas, legumes, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin.

6. Avoid endocrine disruptors

Endocrine-disrupting chemicals are mostly found in a large number of everyday products such as makeup, body care products, colognes, air fresheners and household cleaning supplies. They contribute to fertility challenges for both men and women. To reduce exposure look for all-natural household cleaning products, avoid all kinds of products with synthetic fragrances, get rid of air fresheners and odor eliminators entirely, and skip lawn pesticides and herbicides.

7. Support your adrenals

One of the most common hormonal imbalances in women today is adrenal fatigue. Well-supported and healthy adrenal system is essential for conceiving. Balancing blood sugar and eliminating caffeine both help support the adrenals. So practice restorative exercise, activities that relax you and high-quality sleep.

8. Track out food sensitivities

Food allergens contribute to leaky gut syndrome, stress the GI tract, and tell the immune system to go into overdrive. This can divert the body’s resources away from supporting a pregnancy. It can also lead to the malabsorption of nutrients that play a crucial role in fertility.

9. Try Acupuncture

Acupuncture paired with in vitro fertilization can significantly increase conception rates. It may do this by reducing stress, helping support the endocrine system, and increasing blood flow to the reproductive organs. It’s also beneficial for women who are struggling to conceive because they have polycystic ovary syndrome or PCOS.

It may also help men by increasing sperm production.

10. Take Supplements

Women who are trying to conceive should add magnesium and high-quality B vitamin. Men may benefit from selenium, zinc, and CoQ10.

Raw Food Diet – How to Eat More Raw Foods in a Balanced Way

A raw food diet is about eating all or mostly uncooked and unprocessed foods so you get all the nutrients avoiding the dangerous chemicals and additives.

Raw food diet is more like a lifestyle that promotes eating foods in their natural state and it doesn’t mean that you have to declare yourself a “raw vegan.”

In fact, raw foodism has been around since the 1800s, and both anecdotal evidence and studies reveal the benefits of a raw food diet:

  • prevents cancer
  • lowers inflammation
  • improves heart health
  • provides more dietary fiber
  • improves digestion
  • preventing or treating constipation
  • helps with optimal liver function
  • gives you more energy
  • prevents nutrient deficiencies
  • clears up your skin
  • helps you maintain a healthy body weight
  • lowers a number of carcinogens and antinutrients in your diet.

There’s no need to declare yourself a “raw vegan” or to go completely raw, and there are different variations of raw food diets so you don’t have to follow one single type of raw food diet.

Actually, consuming at least some raw fruits and vegetables every day is important for just about everyone.

If you want to go on a raw food diet you must know that in your diet you can include more than just fresh foods. In addition to raw vegetables and fruits, you might consume:

  • fermented foods,
  • raw dairy products,
  • fish,
  • sea vegetables,
  • eggs,
  • seeds,
  • nuts,
  • sprouted grains,
  • and even some meat.

Any kind of raw food diet, in general, avoids homogenized and pasteurized foods, or foods produced with the use of chemical fertilizers, synthetic pesticides, chemical food additives and industrial solvents.

This means that you’ll have to avoid most popular processed and packaged foods sold in the grocery store like processed meats, cheese, cereals, bottled condiments, refined oils, bread, and crackers.

It’s All About Balance

If you want to start with raw food diet here are some foods to start eating regularly:

  • Avocados
  • Citrus fruits
  • Leafy greens
  • Raw veggies like carrots, peppers, celery, tomatoes, etc.
  • Sunflower, sesame and pumpkin seeds
  • Coconut kefir
  • Raw yogurt
  • Extra virgin olive or coconut oil
  • Cultured veggies (like kimchi or sauerkraut)
  • Cantaloupe and watermelon

Move Your Diet in the Right Direction

Try taking these steps below in order to incorporate more raw and anti-inflammatory foods into your diet:

  1. Replace all refined grains and sugary snacks.

This includes all white bread, white pasta, white rice, cereal, pizza, sugary condiments/sauces, soups, fruit drinks, crackers, sweetened yogurt and canned foods. The fermentation process turns legumes and raw grains which are normally inedible, into the edible. So, have soaked/sprouted grain products. Also instead of sweetened snacks, eat real fruit for a sweet treat.

  1. Replace bad fats with healthy, good fats.

Get rid of any trans fats, partially hydrogenated and hydrogenated oils, canola oil, soybean oil, and vegetable oils. Instead use good fats like cold-pressed coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, avocado,  nuts/seeds and grass-fed butter, which are essential to brain development, cancer prevention, lowering inflammation, hormone production, weight loss, and cellular healing.

  1. Individualize Your Diet and Choose What Works Best For You.

Juicing, sprouting, steaming, lightly cooking food at temperatures less than 100 degrees, and using slow cookers are ways to prepare the food you aren’t eating raw. Typically about 75% to 80% of foods you eat should never be heated above 115 degrees Fahrenheit.

  1. Have Quality Animal Products in Moderation.

This significantly lowers your exposure to hormones, antibiotics, herbicides, and pesticides in meats while supplying important fatty acids and nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids, arachidonic acid, and conjugated linoleic acid.

Raw Food Diet And The Importance of Fermented Foods

Some of the healthiest things about eating a raw food diet are fermented foods. During the period when they undergo fermentation they naturally develop probiotics. The best fermented foods are kefir, yogurt, kombucha, sourdough bread, and cultured vegetables like kimchi, sauerkraut, and kvass.

Probiotics or “good bacteria” supplied by fermented foods are responsible for supporting your immune system and nutrient absorption. They are great for your digestive system, encourage a healthy microbiome, improve immunity, help you to maintain a healthy weight and hormonal balance and help clear up your skin.

Who Can Benefit from a Raw Food Diet?

Raw foods diet reduces acidity, helps alkalize the body, and doesn’t cause inflammation or autoimmune reactions. While this is good for all of us, some people can especially benefit from raw food diet including those with:

  • autoimmune disorders
  • cancer
  • high blood pressure and high cholesterol
  • heart disease
  • food allergies
  • kidney disease
  • osteoporosis
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • gallstones or gallbladder disease
  • fatigue
  • muscle aches and pains
  • joint pain

7 Most Important Eye Vitamins And Best Foods For Your Eye Health

Vision changes can occur gradually or suddenly. The latest evidence shows increased short-sightedness from 20 to 40 percent of the population in the last 25 years. This rate of increase, suggests that it is mostly due to lifestyle factors. We all know that nowadays – more than ever, we are using our eyes to stare at televisions, computer screens, and small images and type on tablets and cell phones. This leads to eye problems and eye fatigue. But fortunately, this doesn’t mean that diminished eyesight have to be an inevitable part of your life. With the right eye vitamins and diet, you can sharpen your vision.

How can eye vitamins keep your eyesight sharp?

Many eye vitamins absorb UV light that is harmful to our eyes and effectively manage hormonal responses and blood sugar levels. They also lower inflammation and the amount of blue light that is emitted from technological devices such as your laptop, phone or tablet.

Moreover, eye vitamins help prevent disorders and help preserve healthy cells.

Warning Signs Of Vision Problems In Kids

According to Prevent Blindness America, one in four children in school-age have problems with vision. If these problems are left untreated they can affect personality, adjustment in school, and learning ability.

The most common cause of vision problems between school-age children are refractive errors.

These are 10 signs that your child has vision problems:

  1. Holding a book too close
  2. Consistently sitting too close to the TV
  3. Using a finger to guide his eyes when reading or losing his place while reading
  4. Frequent eye rubbing
  5. Tilting or squinting the head to see better
  6. Sensitivity to light
  7. Excessive tearing
  8. Complaining of tired eyes or headaches
  9. Avoiding working with computer, because it “hurts his eyes”
  10. Closing one eye to watch TV, read, or see better
  11. Avoiding activities which require distance vision such as recreational activities and sports, or near vision, such as homework or reading.
  12. Receiving lower grades than usual

How Eye Vitamins Work For Eye Health

  • Help prevent macular degeneration
  • Stop oxidative stress – free radical damage
  • Strengthen tissues in the eyes
  • Reduce eye fatigue, glaucoma, light and glare sensitivity
  • Lower the risk for cataracts
  1. Eye Vitamins Help Prevent Macular Degeneration

Antioxidants like zeathanin and lutein protect healthy cells in the eyes. The most common cause of blindness among older adults is age-related macular degeneration. The good news is that certain vitamins can help beat back this condition.

So, age-related macular degeneration or cataracts appears mostly due to our “modern” way of living -diets low in nutrients but high in inflammatory foods.

Daily intake of 40-80 mg of zinc along with antioxidants such as vitamin C, vitamin E, and beta-carotene slows the progression of visual acuity loss by 19% and advanced macular degeneration by 25% in people with high risk of these diseases.

Actually, eye vitamins and antioxidants prevent retina and other delicate eye parts from the damaging short-wavelength UV light.

  1. Eye Vitamins Stop Oxidative Stress – Free Radical Damage

Certain antioxidants and vitamins, such as vitamin C and lutein, help fight free radical damage in the eyes caused over time by sun/UV light exposure, blue light emissions from computer screens and poor diet.

These vitamins help us to slow down oxidative damage in general.

Vision loss and disorders like cataracts and macular degeneration are caused by the process of oxidative stress, which is why people with unhealthy lifestyles are most likely to suffer from vision loss and eye problems. This can also damage the blood vessels, cause problems with blood reaching the eyes, lead to diseases that hinder normal vision like heart disease and diabetes and complicate eye surgeries.

  1. Eye Vitamins Strengthen Tissues in the Eyes

Studies show antioxidants like vitamin C and vitamin E and omega-3 fatty acids are beneficial for people whose immune systems have been weakened due to chronic stress, poor diets, and illnesses.

They’re also important for the development of the eyes in children and infants.

Besides that these eye vitamins help protect vision, they are also beneficial for tissues throughout the body (cartilage, joints, ligaments, etc.) because they lower inflammation.

  1. Eye Vitamins Reduce Eye Fatigue, Glaucoma, Light and Glare Sensitivity

Eye vitamins help keep your vision accurate by strengthening the macula, lens, retina, and cornea. They are extremely important for precise vision because they prevent cataracts.

According to the Glaucoma Research Foundation, a diet high in vitamins A, C, E, and zinc can also fight glaucoma, described as vision loss or tunnel vision that is caused by damage to the optic nerves in the eyes.

  1. Eye Vitamins Lower the Risk for Cataracts

To keep the lens within the eye protected from damage and clear it is very important to consume antioxidants.

Studies show that higher dietary intakes of vitamin E, zeaxanthin and lutein significantly improved vision in people who already have cataracts and decreased risk of cataract formation.

Zinc deficiency, according to the American Optometric Association, has also been tied to poor night vision and cloudy vision since it helps bring vitamin A from the liver into the retina.

So What Are the Best Eye Vitamins?

Zeaxanthin

About 20 types of carotenoids found in nature make their way into the eyes. The most important are zeaxanthin and lutein because they’re delivered in the highest amounts into the delicate macula of the eyes. Zeaxanthin helps protect the eye’s lens, tissue, and macula, which prevents disorders like cataracts, light sensitivity, glare, and clears vision.

Lutein

This carotenoid phytonutrient has anti-inflammatory properties and its nickname is “the eye vitamin.” Lutein protects both the skin and eyes.

It is found in foods like leafy green vegetables, orange vegetables, egg yolks, and citrus fruits.

Researchers at Harvard University have found that 6 milligrams daily of lutein taken as a supplement, can lower the risk for macular degeneration by an average of 43%.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E, vitamin C, and vitamin A keep tissue and cells protected and strong. Consuming plenty vitamin A and vitamin E together improves vision and healing in people undergoing laser eye surgery.

Studies show that people who consume at least 400 IU of vitamin E daily, along with vitamin C, vitamin A (as beta-carotene), and zinc have about a 25% lower risk of developing advanced stages of macular degeneration.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is powerful antioxidant that helps protect your vision by helping you absorb more nutrients and trace minerals in general and fighting free radicals. This crucial vitamin slows down inflammatory responses, helps repair damaged tissue, prevents cellular mutations and much more.

Vitamin A (Beta Carotene)

Vitamin A is an antioxidant that prevents loss of vision caused by degenerative conditions, such as macular degeneration and cataract. It also helps slow the progression of nerve damage – neuropathy.

A report published by Journal of the American Medical Association of Ophthalmology, revealed that to prevent night blindness and xerophthalmia we need to obtain adequate vitamin A, especially if we’re low in other key nutrients.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Omega-3 fatty acids have anti-inflammatory properties and are able to slow down the effects of aging. They protect tissue, stabilize blood sugar levels, help fight eye damage caused by diabetes, help stop cells from mutating and improve circulation.

People who consume a lot of hydrogenated vegetable oils and processed foods are most likely to be omega-3-deficient along with those on a vegan or vegetarian diet.

Zinc

Zinc is one of the most important nutrients for nutrient absorption. In combination with other vitamins, it fights inflammation and cellular damage, lowers risk for macular degeneration and helps protect the retina.

In fact, zinc plays a crucial role in maintaining healthy circulation, proper cell growth, and cell division, controlling inflammatory cytokines that attack tissue and balancing hormones that prevent autoimmune reactions. The best sources of zinc are nuts, fish, and grass-fed meat.

How does Schizandra work?

Boosts Immunity and Lowers Inflammation

Schizandra provides nutrients and cleanses the blood.

Thanks to its high content of antioxidant compounds, schizandra lowers inflammatory responses and helps fight free radical damage — which are at the root of modern diseases like heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.

Due to its ability to fight inflammation and positively affect the immune system, schizandra prevents diabetes, balances blood sugar, helps stall the development of atherosclerosis and brings the body into an optimal acid-base balance.

It also helps control the release of leukocytes and improves the ability to repair tissue, positively impacts platelet-activating factors, bone formation, oxygen consumption, metabolism, and the tolerance of toxin exposure.

Schizandra berry immune-boosting abilities are far-reaching. It boosts antioxidant activity, helps increase enzyme production, improves digestion, circulation, and the ability to remove waste from the body. Liver health is closely tied to stronger immunity, therefore schizandra has been found to be protective against indigestion, various gastrointestinal disorders, and infections.

When it comes to cancer prevention, schizandra contains active lignans that have chemo-protective abilities, especially one called schisandrin A.

Protects Liver

Dozens of studies reveal the efficiency of schizandra in acute gastrointestinal diseases, chronic gastritis, gastric hyper- and hypo-secretion, stomach ulcers, and healing pneumonia, reducing allergic reactions, cleansing the liver, and preventing developmental problems in pregnant women. Some studies also reveal it’s helpful for treating chronic hepatitis.

A study published in the International Journal of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics shows that since schizandra increases production of a compound called Tacrolimus (Tac), it can benefit patients following a liver transplant. Tacrolimus (Tac) actually prevents the body’s rejection of a new liver following liver transplantation.

Helps with Healthy Sexual Function

A large majority of Asian sexual tonic formulations use schizandra. It is ‘an ideal herb for intimate relationships.’

Research shows that schizandra is beneficial for hormonal health and fertility, positively affecting the reproductive organs, preventing sexual dysfunction like impotence and helping promote a strong libido.

It is also useful for preventing diseases like osteoporosis. This is because it positively impacts hormone production, including estrogen, so it helps in forming bone mineral density and helps with bone healing.

Improves Mental Performance

One of the oldest uses for schizandra is raising energy levels and promoting mental clarity. Practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine have used it, for over 2.000 years, to naturally improve mental capabilities and promote better memory, sharper concentration, and increased motivation.

Schizandra works oppositely than the caffeine. It fights off fatigue and makes you feel calmer.

Studies also show a link between use of schizandra and protection against psychiatric and neurological disorders, including anxiety, depression, neurosis, alcoholism, schizophrenia, and even Alzheimer’s.

Protects the Skin

As a natural beauty tonic schizandra protects the skin from sun exposure, wind, dermatitis, allergic reactions, toxin accumulation and environmental stress. Due to its anti-inflammatory effects, Schisandra chinensis is widely used to treat skin diseases.

How to Use Schizandra

Traditional methods of using schizandra berry include:

  • Eating the powdered schizandra fruit or extract: you can consume up to 3 grams a day safely.
  • Create a tincture by mixing the dried fruit extract in 95% ethanol. Take one part of pure extract and six parts of liquid. You can also find already prepared extract/tincture. Take 20-30 drops daily.
