And, in order to fight their critics, the fast food chain has launched a PR campaign called “Our food. Your Questions.” to give customers an unprecedented look at exactly how their food is made. While the company denies they use “pink slime” in their burgers, there are some questionable other ingredients that will make you shake your head. You can take this for example – the company admits to using the chemical additive azodicarbonamide in their buns, which is the same substance found in yoga mats.
Note: you’ll be “shocked” when you find out that the company insists that adding rubber to the food is quite safe:
“There are varied uses for azodicarbonamide, including in some non-food products, such as yoga mats. As a result, some people have suggested our food contains rubber or plastic, or that the ingredient is unsafe. It’s simply not the case. Think of salt: the salt you use in your food at home is a variation of the salt you may use to de-ice your sidewalk. The same is true of ADA — it can be used in different ways.”
You should also know that the company admits to using dimethylpolysiloxane in their food, which is used as an anti-foaming agent in their McNugget frying oil.But, you’ll be surprised, when you find out that their patties are “100% beef”. Their chief brand manager insists that customers should “not judge us before you know us.”
And, I really think that if anyone watched “Super-Size Me” knows the toll that this kind of “food” can have on your health. And, can you do me a little favor – just take a look around the next time you enter McDonald’s, and you’ll see what I’m talking about. While they claim these yoga-mat buns are safe for consumption, I think I’ll stick with eating whole foods.

Although PFOA is a long complex name, it is essentially a complex chemical and relies on fluoride for its non-stick properties. While I placed this last, mounting research clearly reveals that your chair may actually be one of the most dangerous items to have around for your health. Prolonged sitting has repeatedly been shown to be an independent risk factor for chronic disease and early demise, even if you exercise regularly and are very fit. That’s right; exercise cannot undo the damage caused by hours of daily sitting, just like it cannot undo the harm done by smoking.

Along with obesity, sitting is the new smoking, increasing your risk of lung cancer by more 50 percent. Who would have guessed that sitting is far more dangerous than second-hand smoke? At a bare minimum, avoid sitting for more than 50 minutes out of every hour. If you don’t already have a fitness tracker, it may be money well spent to get one. I recommend aiming for 7,000 to 10,000 steps per day, over and above any exercise regimen, you may have.

I was probably doing 2,000 steps a day before using a fitness tracker, and now I am up to about 15,000 steps a day or about eight miles.

For many, simply getting and staying out of your chair is a first step that can bring you closer to a healthier lifestyle. As you become more used to low level, non-exercise activity, you’re more likely to get motivated enough to start exercising more vigorously.

Well, according to Dr. Ron Cutler, not taking your phone in the bathroom is the right step. “Basically, you just shouldn’t (take your phone into the toilet) if you are at all concerned about the transfer of viruses and fecal contamination.” He also says that the levels of contamination depend on the location of the toilet – the office might not be a problem, but a public toilet significantly increases the risk of infection. Viruses can be transferred by anything, not just by hands or air. A single spray from the toilet can travel six feet from the flush and end on your toothbrush, which is why it should be in a closed cupboard.

Germs can even survive on your phone for days! “Phones heat up a little bit giving bacteria a nice warm environment. If people handle sweets and leave a sticky coating on the phone, that’s an even better place for bacteria,” Dr. Cutler says. This is why it’s very important to wash your hands well with soap and water any time you’re using the bathroom.

According to a study, “There is strong evidence that mineral oil hydrocarbons are the greatest contaminant of the human body, amounting to approximately 1 g per person. Possible routes of contamination include air inhalation, food intake, and dermal absorption”.

Estrogen dominance

The high levels of estrogen in petroleum jelly can lead to estrogen dominance, which can cause infertility, menstrual problems, fast aging, allergies and autoimmune diseases and nutrient deficiencies. Petroleum jelly contains xenoestrogens that can cause estrogen problems in the body by acting on hormone receptors.
